A little corner of Latin America on Griffith St.
Big Papi’s opened its doors on Griffith St in 2024 and has been feeding Coolangatta Monday to Saturday nights since. The menu roams the whole continent: Peruvian ceviche and pisco sours, Brazilian coxinha and picanha with farofa, Mexican tacos and palomas, Argentine chori-pan and empanadas, and a seafood paella built for two.
It is a share-plate place. Grab a stool on the deck under the fairy lights or a table inside, order a few things for the middle, and let the kitchen and the bar do the rest.
Over the coals
Choclo ribs basted in Papi’s butter, a 300g Angus picanha, and chicharron cured in mojo. The grill does the heavy lifting.
Plenty for everyone
Plenty of the menu is gluten free, with vegan guac y tortilla and smokey pimento tacos, and a vegetarian queso empanada finished with hot honey.

Cachaça, mezcal, pisco and rum, mixed into six house cocktails. All the classics are available too, plus a short list of vino, cervezas and cider.
